Look After Children (LAC)

This project takes a holistic analytical approach to understanding Looked After Children (LAC) and the services supporting them across the Bradford region. By leveraging comprehensive datasets, we will analyze the nature, scale, and distribution of LAC, exploring their representation across public service data within the Connected Bradford platform. Working closely with the NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration and the Children’s Trust, we will examine pseudonymized individual-level records from healthcare (primary care, CAMHS, A&E admissions) and education (school readiness, attendance, exclusions), alongside area-level factors such as deprivation indices and crime data. Through these analyses, the project aims to identify key risk factors, map developmental trajectories, and uncover the broader determinants of adverse outcomes for LAC. By understanding the complex interactions between various influences, this research will provide data-driven insights to inform policies and interventions that improve outcomes for vulnerable young people.
